Seattle Business magazine reports that professional men’s basketball is returning to Seattle with the introduction of the Seattle Super Hawks, an expansion team in The Basketball League (TBL). Owned by Jacqueline Yang, a former Microsoft executive, and her husband, Pierre Cockrell Sr., a former professional track athlete and ex-SuperSonics ballboy, the Super Hawks aim to fill the void left since the SuperSonics’ departure in 2008. Yang’s ownership marks her as the first Asian woman to own a men’s professional basketball team in North America. The team is committed to community engagement, offering affordable ticket prices and youth outreach programs. Their inaugural home exhibition game is scheduled against the Newfoundland Rogues on March 8, with the regular season commencing on March 10 against the Wenatchee Bighorns.
