On May 22, 2025, the Seattle SuperHawks hosted the Vancouver Volcanoes in a special evening dubbed “Gary Payton Night,” honoring the legendary Seattle SuperSonics point guard. The game was part of The Basketball League (TBL) season and took place at Seattle Pacific’s Royal Brougham Pavilion. 

Game Summary

In a high-scoring affair, the Seattle SuperHawks defeated the Vancouver Volcanoes with a final score of 139–105. Vancouver’s Gamaun Boykin led the charge, scoring 33 points and grabbing 9  rebounds. But, it was the SuperHawks who prevailed, as Elijah Hardy contributed 27 points and 6 assists, while Chayce Poynice scored 17 points, adding 14 rebounds and 3 blocks. 

Gary Payton Night

The evening was dedicated to celebrating Gary Payton, affectionately known as “The Glove,” for his exceptional defensive skills during his NBA career. Payton was in attendance, engaging with fans and players alike. The SuperHawks’ tribute highlighted Seattle’s rich basketball history and Payton’s lasting impact on the sport.
